LaCroix is an integral part of our racing team.  No matter what service we are seeking, we are assured that each horse will be treated as an individual.  We have sent yearlings for breaking, horses to be rehabilitated, and horses that just need to be legged-up after a break.  Each horse has been given a customized training regimen, and every one has received individual attention to address his or her special needs.  Ultimately, though, the proof of what LaCroix offers is in the results.  Graduates are well-schooled and ready to begin their career at the race track; veterans have been re-habbed and re-conditioned so that when they returned to their trainers, they have been able to race again.
 
As a facility, LaCroix has all the necessary tools—a synthetic track, Aqua-Tred, Equi-Cizer™, round pens, outdoor arenas—to meet every training requirement.  Its tranquil setting allows horses to rest, to learn and to re-learn their skills in a quiet, low-pressure environment.  LaCroix’s professional staff has years of experience and applies natural horsemanship as the preferred method of training, which in our opinion is critical not only to a youngster’s early foundation, but also to maintaining a happy veteran campaigner.

LaCroix is a superb facility that is run by Del Lowell, who is a phenomenal horsewoman. She takes great care of her patients. The success of racehorses on the track is a result of the care they receive behind the scenes. Teamwork is vital. Del Lowell is a lifeline for Media Thoroughbred Group. She is involved with each of our local horses from acquisition through retirement. When we purchase a horse, LaCroix is typically the first stop. Del assesses the overall physical and mental well being, and prepares the horse for transition to our program. When one of our horses gets sick or injured, she creates and implements an individual rehab plan which may include aquatherapy, massage, chiropractic treatment or even acupuncture! If it’s just a mental break from training we are looking for, Del has an uncanny ability to get into these beautiful athletes’ heads and rejuvenate their spirit with love and compassion. And finally, when our horses retire, Del Lowell is an amazing resource for the move to a new home and the next phase of their lives.

When we visit our horses at LaCroix, it is not unusual to see a multiple graded stakes winner or a horse just off the Derby trail in the next stall. I take great comfort in the fact that our horses are being cared for by the same person who is entrusted with the rehab and care of these great athletes. I am even more comforted in knowing that my horse is getting the same level of care.
